Off we go!

Oops, I almost forgot we booked a night train to Amsterdam so our departure was half a day earlier and a bit of a rush. The train was filled with disgruntled Leverkusen fans after losing the Cup final, so I'm glad we paid extra for a proper bed.

Thanks Caro and Jono for seeing us off so nicely.

Very comfortable compartment and ticket inspector from Prague! So Tina and I proudly ordered a night cap in Czech and then slept wonderfully well.

As a result we had much more time to discover the beautiful city of Amsterdam. I never knew it was such a great place. The holiday feeling has already set in. There are so many bikes here - why doesn't every city do the same? The old town is buzzing but there's no traffic noise, only bells binging everywhere. :-)

We have to get up very early in the morning to pick up Marly from the ferry in Hoek. Can't believe we're really starting the trip tomorrow...

Now it's time for a drink and some of those famous chips while we watch the sunset. The weather's so warm here... for now.

  3. Wow. Dead jealous! have a great time, I'll be checking the blog regularly.

At least you've both got new cycling jackets, which I'm hoping are at least waterproof!!!!

Hi to Tina and Marly, have a damn great time. I'll do my (little) bit on the London to Brighton.

  6. Sorry that I couldn't say goodbye. But I thought a lot of you both. My kajaking tour through the wild wild Brandenburg was great. Yesterday we made the Amazonas of Brandenburg :o). Wish you luck, not so much wind(you know at the sea...), good weather, nice people and meet you in NF in two weeks. I will check your experiences regularly.
    Big hug Margie
